Glazed Fruit Bars
Glazed Fruit Bars

1 c. sugar
1/3 c. margarine
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 T. orange peel
¼ c. orange juice
2 ½ c. unbleached flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
1 c. raisins
1 c. mixed candied fruit

Heat oven to 400 degrees.  Mix sugar, shortening, margarine, egg, orange peel and orange juice.  Stir in remaining ingredients except powdered sugar glaze.  Spread in greased jelly roll pan, 15 ½” x 10 ½” x 1”.  Bake until top springs back when touched, about 15 mins.  Cool slightly, spread with Powdered Sugar Glaze.  Cut into bars.

Powdered Sugar Glaze:
1 ½ c. powdered sugar
¼ tsp. vanilla
2 to 3 T. milk

Beat powdered sugar, vanilla and milk until smooth and of desired consistency.
